High-Speed Low Latency Connectivity: American Internet Services' number one priority is attending to the speed, latency issues and packet loss issues that surround Internet connectivity for our colocation and connectivity customers. Whether you are establishing T1/DS3/OC3 connectivity, or utilizing our data center colocation services we have engineered the fastest and most reliable network and backbone connections that your money can buy! This high-speed, low latency connectivity provides a platform for the latest in communications technology such as voice over IP, video conferencing and video streaming.

The Challenge: Our challenge was, and is to provide the best possible Internet connectivity for our colocation clients. In our research to find the best tier one backbones, we determined that all of them were...and that none of them were. In order to design the highest bandwidth, lowest latency network, we needed direct connectivity to the nine largest backbones on the Internet plus private peering to directly connect us to some of the internet's largest private networks. The reason revolves around how the Internet works. The Internet isn't a single network, but rather a network of networks. To get from point A to point B, most Internet traffic has to pass from one network to another, often multiple times. When these "peering points get congested, traffic backs up.

A secondary challenge has been to educate customers on the latest technologies and help them separate the hype from reality. There are many ISP's claiming to have the best, fastest and most reliable network. We assist our customers in peeling away the layers of technology hype to get to the real truth about how the Internet works and how they can best utilize technology to take advantage of it.

The Solution: We have invested millions in backbone and routing equipment and designed a network that out-performs all others.

Most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and colocation companies use Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) technology to determine the best route for traffic over the Internet. American Internet Services (AIS) goes beyond what BGP can do.

Our solution provides a self-healing IP network that solves congestion and latency issues common to standard BGP routed backbones. We do this with the latest routing technology and infrastructure designed to exceed the built-in limitations of BGP. This technology, utilizing RouteScience's PathControl (independent review), provides our network with direct and ultra-low latency access to each of our nine major Internet backbones, thus setting the AIS network apart from other colocation and data center outsourcing companies.

Our nine backbone connections virtually eliminate congestion and packet loss of your data that is commonly experienced by other ISPs and colocation companies. Our routing technology predetermines the fastest possible path between the data sender and the receiver, and routes the data accordingly. Our intelligent routing engine monitors the top 15,000 routes used by our network each minute and automatically determines the best route for your Internet traffic. These routes are updated 10,000 times per minute. And, because of our built-in redundancy, self-healing capabilities, fault tolerance of our network infrastructure, and automatic traffic routing around congestion, we are largely unaffected by major Internet backbone outages.

This makes our network a perfect match for demanding customers that require the highest performance in their Internet connectivity. These customer types include: voice over IP, gaming, database synchronization, video conferencing and anyone that needs high performance network connectivity. AIS is setting the standard for internet colocation bandwidth, why go anywhere else? Furthermore, this performance can be proven, please ask your sales representative for additional information.

Backbone Our backbone routers including dual Cisco 12000(GSR) Gigabit Service Routers and Cisco 6500 backbone routers provide multi-path connectivity to our nine teir one backbone connections. Our Cisco Catalyst 6500 enterprise switching/router hardware supports full supervisor capabilities, QOS monitoring, and enhanced TOS switching.

Switch/Routers Redundant layer 3 Cisco 6500 series switch routers with redundant SUP720 engines and dual power supplies are used to connect our colocation clients, internal network, dial up equipment, hosting servers, and email servers. Colocation clients have the option of utilizing Hot Standby Routing Protocol (HSRP). This feature adds yet another layer of redundancy by providing our customers with dual Ethernet connections to separate redundant switch/routers.

Aggregation Routers Cisco 7500 series routers with redundant power supplies and redundant supervisor engines are utilized to connect the multiple CT3s, DS3's and OC3's which connect our T1, DSL, DS3 and OC3 clients to our redundant backbone routers, and then out to the Internet.
